Sports Day 2024 was a great success. The Junior Classes had events in the school whilst the Senior Classes had events in the G.A.A Pitch. Thanks to Carambola for supplying lunches for teachers and to Buggy Foods for supplying ice-creams for all the kids. Thanks also to Philip Kiernan, Rachel and Shane Costelloe for helping out on the day.
3rd/4th Class Blitz: Well done to 3rd and 4th class who had a very enjoyable G.A.A Blitz on the Astroturf in Kilbeggan Shamrock's G.A.A grounds. Thanks to Alan Mullin's who co-ordinated the event and to our young referees from 6th class who officiated at the games.
Lego League 2024: Well done to 6th class and Mr. Davey on taking part in their first Lego League Competition. The event took place in Tús Athlone on the 8th of February. 6th class have been working extremely hard on this project over the past few months with Mr. Davey and former pupil Clodagh Reid. We are very proud of their exploits and hopefully this will become an annual event for the school.
Christmas Celebrations-Well done to all the boys and girls on their great performances that took place on December 17th. The Junior classes put on a wonderful show in the GP Room and the senior classes had a Christmas Carol Service in St. James' Church that evening. Thanks to all the teachers for their great work with each class.
Ardan Woods Walk: Both 1st and 5th class visited Ardan Woods on the 27th November. They had a really fun walk with Jeremy from the Native Woodlands trust and learned lots of interesting facts about trees in the woods. Thanks to Alistair Ferrar for organising the trip. We hope to visit the woods again in the near future.
Ms. O'Neill Retirement Night-We had a great send off for Eileen O'Neill. Current and past teaching colleagues, as well as friends, family and students came together to remember the huge impact that Eileen has made in Scoil an Chlochair over the past 39 years. Thanks to all for organising such a fantastic event. Wishing Ms. O'Neill every best wishes in the new chapter of her life.
GAA-The boys and girls teams have been in Cumann na mbunscoil action recently, displaying great determination and skills. The boys have played Gainstown and Moate and the girls have played Rosemount and Mount Temple. Thanks to the coaches; Mr. Seery, Ms. McDonnell and Ms. Barrett for preparing the boys and girls for the competition.
Kilbeggan Shamrock's Victorious! Well done to Kilbeggan Shamrock's on their Junior Final win over St. Loman's. The winning team visited the school with the cup on Monday the 2nd October. Thanks to the players and management for the visit and best of luck in the Leinster campaign.
Student of the Month winners from September to June and our new Junior Infants receiving certificates for excellent work in their first month of school. Well done to the students from Junior Infants to 6th.
Well done to all students and teachers who made a great effort for our Halloween dress-up day. Lots of thought and effort went into each and every costume. Roll on next year!
Grandparent's Day: We had a Grandparent's Mass on Friday the 6th of October. After, tea and refreshments were served to our special guests in the GP Room. Entertainment was provided by Junior Infants and 2nd Class. Thanks to all for making it a very special morning.
